On January 27, Metropolitan Kirill was elected Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia. On February 1, 2009 Metropolitan Kirill was enthroned at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow.

Most of  the Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church outside of Russia participated in the election process as well as many delegates from all the ROCOR  Dioceses.

In his acceptance speech Metropolitan Kirill asked for prayers to bear the heavy cross of Patriarch and so it is our duty to pray for our pastors in church and in our private prayers. May the Lord God grant our new Patriarch strength, wisdom and steadfastness in the Faith.
