Holy Friday
On Friday morning, the Royal Hours are served with readings concerning the Passion of the Lord. At 2PM, the Vespers service of the Bringing out of the Shroud was served. A special tomb for the Lord is prepared beforehand surrounded by many flowers of different colors, symbolizing the Garden of Gethsemane. At the end of the Vespers service, the choir sings the troparion, “The Noble Joseph…,” and the Plaschanitsa, or Shroud is brought out of the altar by the Bishop and the clergy. Upon placing the shroud on the tomb, Vladyka gave a very moving sermon about the meaning of this service.
