Feast of St. Job of Pochaev
Feast of St. Job of Pochaev

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, for the first time in memory, the monastery did not have its annual Labor Day weekend celebration of the memory of St. Job of Pochaev and the Pochaev Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos.  Due to this, the Pochaev Icon was not taken to the cemetery church of the Dormition on the feast of the Dormition as has been the usual custom, to be brought back in procession on Saturday of the Labor Day weekend.

Perhaps due to this, the actual feast of St. Job on September 10 (NS) was celebrated with great fervor.  Although there was an early morning liturgy served in the church of St. Job, the “downstairs” church, the main services were held upstairs in consideration of the circumstances.  His Grace, Bishop Luke, was the main celebrant, assisted by the monastery clergy.  At the end of the liturgy, there was a moleben served with a Cross procession around the church, stopping at all four corners for the ectenias.  This year, all of the seminarians participated in the services as they had already returned early with classes already in session before the feast.
