Feast of St. Olga at Quick to Hear Convent of the Mother of God

Bishop Luke designated a summer feast for the Convent of the Mother of God, Quick to Hear.  And so on July 24th the sisters celebrated their first annual feast for St Olga, Princess of Russia.

The sisters and neighbors had worked hard practicing the hymns, and the all night vigil and liturgy was sung beautifully and prayerfully.

Bishop Luke was greeted Saturday morning by Fr Serge Kotar and Fr Archimandrite Nektarios, Fr John Bodecker, Fr Deacon Peter Markevich, Hiero-Deacon Fr Paisios and Hier-Subdeacon Fr Tikhon, and friends and neighbors, along with the sisters of the convent.

Liturgy was very solemn,  the Bishops gold vestments where regal and the flowers from the garden all contributed to a service which royally commemorated the 'Grandmother of Orthodoxy' in Russia, equal to the apostles, Princess Olga.

Everyone stayed after liturgy and shared in the festive trapeza.  It was a beautiful, grace filled day, and we were glad to commemorate the glorious St Olga, whose zeal and strength of character helped bring Orthodoxy to Russia.  May she help and guide the sisters in our monastic podvig.
