Feast of Saint Job of Pochaev
Feast of Saint Job of Pochaev

As shown in a previous posting, the monastery celebrates the memory of St. Job of Pochaev on Labor Day weekend for the sake of the faithful, who take advantage of the long weekend to come to the monastery in pilgrimage.

However, the real feast is on August 28/September 10.  On this day, the monastery had an All-Night Vigil the evening before, and His Grace Bishop Luke celebrated a hierarchal Divine Liturgy together with the monastery clergy.  At the end of the Liturgy, a moleben was served to St. Job with a Cross Procession around the church.

All of the day’s services were conducted in the basement church of the cathedral, as it is consecrated to St. Job.  The church contains several precious holy things:  the reliquary of saints from the Kiev Caves Monastery as well as the miraculous copy of the Pochaev Icon of the Mother of God.

This feast, as commented by Vladyka Luke, is the feast of our publications brotherhood, dedicated to St. Job, which strives to continue the work of St. Job to enlighten the Orthodox faithful and witness to the truths of our holy faith.  May God protect our brotherhood through the prayers of St. Job, by whose holy example of asceticism and perseverance strengthened the Volynian land and all of the Russian lands against the onslaught of heresy and schism
